Read about Self Care for Gingivitis presented in simple easy to understand language

Maintaining the activities of oral hygiene depends on age, habits, health history, and dental care. Cleaning the mouth in the morning and before bed is a minimum required act. This includes brushing teeth, tongue, and the gums. We brush in the morning to remove the unpleasant taste. However, most of the harmful things happen to your mouth during the day. Thus, mouth cleansing before bed is important to remove the buildup of the food and bacteria so that oral tissues can recover during sleep.

Self care for Gingivitis includes the following
Brushing: brush and floss your teeth cleanly. Use a soft bristled toothbrush and held the brush at 45-degree angle to the line where your teeth and gums meet. Replace the brush when the bristles become tattered.

Flossing: Brushing removes only the bacteria from the teeth. This cannot reach everywhere. But flossing helps in getting rid of food and bacteria between the teeth.

• Try to brush and floss after each meal.

• Try to brush at the gumline. Since plaques are trapped at the gumline.

• Try to keep two toothbrushes and use them alternatively so that can dry between uses.

• Try to use electric toothbrush which is very effective in removing the plaque.

• Try to use the rinses intended to loosen plaque.

• Try to massage your gums to stimulate circulation.

• Regularly visit the dentist to remove plaque build-up.

• Frequent water drinking is very beneficial to oral tissues and is nutritious.

• Oral rinses are not effective and should not be used by children because of alcohol content.

• Mix a tablespoon of Aloe gel to a ½ cup of warm water, rinse your mouth for 30 seconds, and spit out. This makes the gums soothe. And helps in preventing and curing the gingivitis.

• To get rid of germs use salt and baking soda when you brush.
